Which motorway leads to BER?

Do I have to call the provider?

What about the key?

With valet you hand it over; with shuttle it depends on the provider. More: Vehicle handover at BER.

What if I am stuck in traffic?

Can I park with a motorhome or trailer?

That depends on the provider. State the vehicle type and dimensions when booking and check height restrictions at multi-storey car parks. More in the frequently asked questions about large vehicles.

Questions that come up specifically at BER

Can I still park at the old Tegel Airport?

No. Tegel Airport has been closed since 2020, and all Berlin air traffic runs via BER in Schönefeld. The former Schönefeld terminal (most recently Terminal 5) is also closed to passengers. If you still have old habits or outdated sat-nav data, always use the current address from the parking booking.

Why do so many flights land shortly before midnight?

At BER, a ban on night flights generally applies during the core period between midnight and five in the morning. Many airlines therefore schedule their last return flights so that they land before then. For your parking this means: check whether the provider still returns cars late in the evening, and in the event of major delays expect the possibility of a diversion. More in the guide Late arrival at BER.

Is BER in Berlin or in Brandenburg?

The airport is located in Schönefeld and therefore in Brandenburg, directly on Berlin's south-eastern city boundary. For travellers this mainly matters for the journey: from Berlin via the A113, from the surrounding area via the Berlin ring road.

Isn't the train easier than the car?

For many Berliners with light luggage, yes – the Flughafen BER station is directly beneath Terminal 1 and is served by the FEX, regional trains and S-Bahn trains. For families with lots of luggage, travellers from rural Brandenburg or for very early and late flights, the car is often more practical. It depends on your specific trip.

How do I tell the drop-off areas of Terminal 1 and 2 apart?

The signs separate the terminals shortly before the airport. Follow the lane to your terminal early. If you take a wrong turn, a loop is usually faster than walking with luggage from the wrong terminal.

Do I have to take action myself during strikes at BER?

Yes. If strikes are announced, find out the status of your flight and cancel your car park in good time if the flight is cancelled – with Friend-Park free of charge up to 24 hours before the service begins. Claims relating to the cancelled flight are to be made against the airline.

Can I book a car park at BER for friends from abroad?

Yes, you can create the booking with the details of the person travelling. Make sure the number plate and mobile number are correct and forward the confirmation so that the travellers know where to go and whom to call.

Can I leave the car at the provider's site longer if I extend spontaneously?

As a rule yes, but only by arrangement. Inform the provider as early as possible and clarify how the additional days will be charged. For bookings via Friend-Park you do not change the period yourself; get in touch via the contact form so that the extension is properly recorded.

What if I mixed up my terminal?

Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are connected via Pier North, so you can switch on foot. With luggage this takes a few minutes. With valet, ask the provider whether the meeting point can be adjusted; on return, state the correct arrival terminal.

Can I take something out of the car during the trip?

With most providers this is not intended, because the vehicles are parked in secured areas. Take everything you need on the way with you and clarify exceptions beforehand.

Are there prices for BER on this page?

No. Friend-Park shows only real prices from affiliated providers for your travel dates. As long as no provider is affiliated at BER, we deliberately do not state any prices.

How early before the start of the holidays should I book?

As soon as your flight is fixed. When Berlin and Brandenburg start their holidays at the same time, popular offers are taken early. With free cancellation up to 24 hours before the service begins, you stay flexible with Friend-Park even if you book months in advance. More planning tips in the guide Reserving a car park at BER.

What do I do if the car comes back damaged?

Raise the damage immediately on site, photograph it and have it recorded in writing before you drive off. Then contact the provider in writing and, for bookings via Friend-Park, also our support team. Your handover photos help to prove the condition at the handover.

Is a question missing? Write to us via the contact form – we regularly add questions that travellers ask about parking at BER to this collection and keep the answers up to date.
