Not every trip goes ahead as planned. If your flight from Cologne/Bonn is postponed or cancelled, you want clarity about the booked parking space quickly. For bookings via Friend-Park there is a simple basic rule – the 24-hour deadline – and a few details you should know.
Key facts at a glance
- The decisive limit: 24 hours before the service begins.
- Before that free of charge, afterwards no cancellation via Friend-Park; the provider’s terms apply.
- Online payment is refunded in full with a free cancellation.
- Different dates = cancel and book again.
What "start of service" means
The deadline is not calculated from departure but from the start of the booked service – i.e. from the planned handover or start of parking. If your parking starts at 04:00, free cancellation ends at 04:00 the day before. Especially with early flights from Cologne/Bonn, this is an important detail.
The rules according to the terms and conditions
- More than 24 hours before: free of charge; amounts paid online including the service fee are refunded automatically.
- Within 24 hours: cancellation via Friend-Park is no longer possible; the provider’s terms apply.
- No-show without cancellation: full price possible.
The complete rules are set out in the Friend-Park terms and conditions (§ 10).
Cancelling online step by step
- Log in to your customer account – or, as a guest, open Find booking.
- As a guest, enter your email address and booking number; a secure link is sent by email and is valid for 72 hours.
- Select the booking and cancel – online no later than 24 hours before the vehicle handover.

Rebooking
You cannot change the date, time or service yourself. Cancel within the deadline and book again – or, if time is short, contact us via the contact form. Flight cancellation at Cologne/Bonn
Whether strike, severe weather or technical problems: check as early as possible whether your flight is affected and act within the free deadline. If the flight is only cancelled on the day of departure, get in touch immediately anyway. Claims due to the flight cancellation are directed at the airline, not the parking provider. Returning later
If your trip is extended, inform the provider so that they don't have your car ready at the old time, and clarify the additional days. Tips: frequently asked questions about a delayed return flight.

Typical reasons for a cancellation
Trips change for many reasons: a child falls ill shortly before the holiday, a business appointment is cancelled, the airline cancels a flight or moves it to another day. Sometimes you simply change your mind and take the train to the airport after all. In all these cases, one clear rule helps: if you cancel in good time, you pay nothing. At Friend-Park, free cancellation applies up to 24 hours before the booked start of the service. If you keep an eye on this deadline, you can book early and still stay flexible.
A worked example of the deadline
You have booked a parking space from Saturday at 05:00 because your holiday flight departs at 07:00. The 24-hour deadline then ends on Friday at 05:00 – not on Friday evening and not 24 hours before departure. If you only notice on Friday evening that the trip is cancelled, you are already outside the free cancellation period. Especially with early flights, which are common at Cologne/Bonn, the deadline comes closer than you think. Note the exact time in your calendar as soon as you have booked.
If the airline moves the flight
Airlines sometimes move flights by a few hours weeks in advance. With holiday flights from Cologne/Bonn, an afternoon departure can become an early-morning departure – or vice versa. So check your flight booking regularly, especially in the weeks before the trip. If the time changes only slightly, a message to the provider is often enough. If the day of travel changes or the new time is outside the opening hours, cancelling and booking again is usually the cleanest way.
Strikes and cancellations
Strikes in air traffic or among security services can lead to short-notice cancellations. If you find out in time, you cancel within the deadline. If the news only comes on the day of travel, when your car has already been parked, inform the provider of the new situation. Whether and how additional days or partial refunds are handled depends on the provider's terms and the circumstances. Keep the airline's notification of the cancellation.
If you return later
If you stay longer than planned, your car stays in the car park longer. With Friend-Park bookings, you do not change the period yourself. Inform support and the provider as soon as you know about the extension. The additional days are charged according to the provider's terms. State your booking number, new return date and flight number so that your car is ready at the right time.
If you return earlier
If you return earlier, the reverse applies: inform the provider so that they have your car ready earlier. Whether a refund is possible for unused days depends on the terms. Don't automatically expect a refund. It is more important that the car is ready on your arrival and you don't have to wait.
Cancelling group bookings
If you have booked for several cars, for example for two families travelling together, each booking is handled individually. If only one family drops out, you cancel only their booking. Afterwards, check whether the remaining booking still fits the number of passengers and luggage.
A final tip
Save the confirmation email and the link to booking management in a place you can find quickly when on the move. If you can act immediately in the event of a change, you will reliably meet the deadline and avoid unnecessary costs.
Common misunderstandings
Many travellers assume that the cancellation deadline counts from the departure time. In fact, the booked start of service counts, i.e. the start of parking. Another misunderstanding: that changing the period is possible free of charge at any time. At Friend-Park you do not change the period and service yourself; instead you cancel within the deadline and book again or contact support. And finally, some believe that a flight cancellation automatically cancels the parking booking. That is not the case – you must cancel yourself or inform the provider.
Confirmation of the cancellation
After a cancellation, you receive a confirmation by email. Keep it until the refund has arrived in your account. How long the refund takes depends on the payment method. If the confirmation is missing, check your spam folder and contact support if necessary. Without confirmation, the booking may still be considered active.
Cancelling in five minutes
A cancellation is done quickly if you have the necessary details to hand: booking number, email address and, if applicable, access to your customer account. Open the link from the confirmation or log in, select the booking and cancel. Then check whether the cancellation confirmation has arrived. If you book again afterwards, make sure the new times are correct and the old booking has really been cancelled. Duplicate bookings for the same period are an avoidable mistake.
In brief
Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start of parking, book again or contact support for changes, inform the provider of extensions – that way you stay flexible even when plans change.
If you have the confirmation to hand and know the deadline, you can handle any change in a few minutes – even at short notice on the move.
Keeping the deadline under control
- Enter the deadline in your calendar right after booking – based on the start of parking.
- Keep your booking number and email address to hand.
- Check the flight status immediately if strikes are reported.
